Easton, MD, November 17, 2015 – Thomas Hutchinson has joined the Easton-based quality improvement company, Quality Health Strategies (QHS), as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives—a new function for the company which includes the Population Health Center and the Project Management function. He has more than 23 years of experience leading health care business analytic and research organizations through fast-paced growth and rapid change. “Tom brings extensive experience as an energetic leader—managing and growing diverse organizations and creating new business initiatives,” said Ronald G. Forsythe, Jr, PhD, QHS Chief Executive Officer. “He has developed new products and services; implemented marketing programs; and crafted environments that attract and retain the best and brightest.”

“The Office of Strategic Initiatives will provide program leadership, strategic planning and implementation support for key organizational initiatives that are assigned by the CEO,” said Hutchinson.  “The position will play a significant role in shaping the growth agenda by building strategies, facilitating planning sessions, and driving change activities that are required to maintain company operations and competitiveness while meeting the needs of all stakeholders.”

Hutchinson hopes to capitalize on the organization’s history, strong reputation, intellectual capital, and dedicated employees to see it continue to grow.  “This growth will mean that our solutions and services are being adapted by more organizations that are transforming health by improving health services and programs.” 

Much of Hutchinson’s career has focused on various aspects of consumer directed health care and population health management.  He has consulted with major health systems and hospitals in the areas of patient experience, employee engagement, and physician satisfaction improvement. Additionally, he has advised hospital executives on ways to improve financial, operational, and clinical results through research, benchmarks and best practices. He has experience helping organizations raise growth equity and has extensive experience with acquisitions having successfully completing many throughout his career. Additionally, he has worked with the investment community on various due diligence projects.

Hutchinson holds an MBA from Loyola University in Maryland and a BS in Computer Science from Dickinson College. He is an active member of the Board of Directors of Cambridge Main Street where he currently serves as President. He is a founding member and board member of IronClub Maryland, which is the support organization for the local Ironman® endurance races. In addition, he is an active volunteer and local staff member of Ironman Maryland. Hutchinson is also a member of the Chesapeake College Foundation Board, Cambridge Economic Steering Committee, Dorchester German Partnership, Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce, Cambridge Rotary, and the Cambridge Business and Professional Group.
